Alloy Technic does an M5

We just got these pictures from our friends over at Alloy Technic. An E60 M5 wearing 20x9 and 20x10.5 Alloy Technic Mesh. Looks like it was meant to be on the car. And because they are so light, the M5 will perform as well!

Fitment for 1 series!

Two wheels have been announced that will now cater to the E82 crowd! Most E82 owners will agree that not enough wheels are made that will fit the high offset required by the E82. I think their worries are about to fade!

SSR TYPE-F Euro


A little bit of background on SSR Semi Solid Forging Technology:

In 1991, SSR learned of the advanced technology known as Semi-Solid Forging (SSF). This technology was being used by the aircraft industry to manufacture parts that required low weight and reliability. They conducted research and development for one year and created their patented wheel manufacturing plant in Nara, Japan. By combining the best features of casting and forging, SSR implemented them in the manufacturing process of SSF. Further research led scientists to develop a process whereby mixing alloys during the solidification process changed the original microstructure of the alloy from a branch-like structure to a globule granular structure. Alumax then perfected the aluminum stirring process, Magneto-Hydro Dynamics (MHD), and created the basis of SSF technology which results in a pure cylindrical alloy billet free of non-metals, gasses, oxides and other impurities. This MHD billet, when heated to a specific temperature, holds a semi-solid form. The billet is then pressed into a mold at a high rate keeping the preferred globule granular microstructure as the new shape is formed. The end product is very dense and strong. SSR is the only wheel manufacturer in the world to produce SSF aluminum wheels. SSR continues to research ways to further develop SSF, creating reliable, durable, and lightweight wheels.

The Type-F Euro is of the 2 Piece Hybrid construction.

SSF manufactured faces are welded to an HTM(Heat Treatment Manufacture) inner barrel using SSR's innovative technology. By combining both SSF and HTM, SSR wheels are light-weight and incredibly strong. The Hybrid 2 Piece wheels feature an SSF face welded to an HTM inner barrel to become one piece. This technology is exclusive only to SSR.

ADVAN Racing RZ

The Yokohama Original Wheel Design has done it yet again.
Following their huge success of the Advan RS on BMW's and of course the Scuderia WTCC race cars, Yokohama has released the Advan RZ for the 1series.

Unlike its older brother the RS, The Advan RZ comes in a 1er focused fitment:

18 - 8.0 et45
18 - 9.0 et50

19 - 8.0 et45
19 - 9.0 et50

Studie Japan has of course done it again.....

E92 on Work Meister S1

I was doing the normal blog crawl when I came across this beautiful E92 owned by Dr.phuOnger. Great example of a Japanese wheel on a German BMW.

Tres amigos en Chicago

Summer's gone and soon the car scene in Chicago will subside to winter tires and occassional tinkering in the garage.

Before, we were to hibernate for the winter, Fast Eddie, SpacE82, and WSTO was out for another round of photos and fun.



Fast Eddie, lowered and stanced on rare SSR GT3 (classic 1 piece: now extinct) with Eisenmann for that extra roar and dressed in BMW performance parts and 3D Design CF diffuser is an instant classic and so very clean. the LET software really makes this AW E82 a wolf in sheep's cloathing.




SpacE82 has kept it pretty mild on the outside but still roars with CP-E exhausts.



As for the WSTO E82, it is decked with parts from 3D Design, Bastuck and a little bit of breathing help from aFe and synapse while LET controls the power.

Lotus Evora

I just saw these pictures on Speedhunters and I just had to share.

The Lotus Evora at the Imola circuit.

A mid engine Rear Wheel Drive with 6 Speed manual transmission.
It has 276hp and 252ft-lb of torque.
Although it is a a more "equipped" car from Lotus, it is a stone under 3000lbs and still sprints 0 to 100km/h in just under 5seconds.

Amazing looks that aren't for everyone but I am sure it will drive just nice for any car enthusiast!

New Product: Strahlen TE Limited

"Strahlen" is German for "Radiate" and hence Rays.
Another brilliant name and even better product by Rays Engineering of Japan.

The Strahlen TE is normally offered in the Gunmetal with diamond cut lip.
As beautiful as it already is, Strahlen has released a new limited version:

THE BLACK ALUMITE FINISH





Although, they are currently only offered in Japan, WSTO is proud to offer them to the US customers.

Here are the currently available specifications:

19 - 9.5 et32 5-120 PCD
19 - 9.5 et37 5-120 PCD

These will fit the BMW 3 Series, E90 Sedan, E92 Coupe, E93 Cabriolet, and even the new E90 LCI.

From Grand Am to the street: SHK&BKE Style
